MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 are the latest 5G 6nm chipsets in town

Two new Dimensity-branded chipsets were launched by MediaTek, the Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100. This is MediaTek's latest ARM Cortex-A78-powered flagship which performs on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is anticipated to power the cores of a Realme smartphone soon.
The Taiwanese chipmaker has two new offerings: the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100. Both chipsets are produced on TSMC's 6nm process node. There is quite a bit about the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100, with the former managing to outperform last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The latter showed up in a recent leak too, but without any accompanying performance metrics.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is the first-ever MediaTek-branded SoC that uses a 1+3+4 CPU composition. Its 'prime' Cortex-A78 core is clocked at a remarkable 3.0GHz, with the remaining Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6GHz and the four 'efficiency' Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. Oddly enough, MediaTek has opted to utilize the previous-generation ARM Mali G77 MC9 nine-core GPU. It is the diametric contrary to Huawei's Kirin 9000, which used a mixture of Cortex-A77 cores and a Mali G78 GPU.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200's image signal processor can deal with inputs from a single 200MP camera sensor, putting on par with equally-specced Qualcomm counterpart. However, dual-camera configurations are limited to 32MP + 16MP. It can record 4K video, but MediaTek hasn't recall what's the framerate. The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 can substantiate a single FHD+ (1,080 x 2,520) display clocked at 165Hz. Lastly, support for UFS 3.1 storage and LPRRD5 RAM is also comprised.
For the MediaTek Dimensity 1100, we get a similar mix of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A75 cores, but in a 4+4 configuration. The former is clocked at 2.6GHz, and the latter at 2.0GHz.
With a few minor tweaks here and there the Dimensity 1100 can only support FHD+ displays clocked at 144Hz, which wouldn't be a problem, contemplating that 144Hz smartphone displays are few and far between. It's ISP can handle inputs from a single 108MP sensor.
Lastly, both the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 are equipped with 5G However, they are only congenial with sub-6GHz networks, with support for mmWave networks nowhere in sight. Other wireless connectivity selections include Wi-Fi 6 (no 6E, still), Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Realme has confirmed that the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is expected to debut alongside a Realme-branded device. The performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 1100's will be known soon.
