Introducing LG's bendable OLED gaming monitor!

Source: LG

LG is known to manufacture flexible OLED panels, which have been used as fancy collection pieces in the technology's early days. A rollable 8K TV was launched last year, but it looks like LG is ready to implement it on smaller screens like gaming monitors this year.

LG plans are preparing to unveil a gaming monitor that uses a flexible OLED panel at CES 2021. It is said to be a 48-inch 4K "Bendable CSO" (Cinematic Sound OLED), which said to have two modes: Flat screen mode and curved screen mode. The former will be great when you're watching videos, while the latter could be better if you want a more immersive gaming experience. The screen will unfold to a curvature radius of up to 1,000R, the screen has some other tricks up its sleeve, including the ‘cinematic sound’ mentioned in its working title.

There will be a 0.6mm layer underneath that turns the whole panel into a speaker. This is similar to Sony's Acoustic Surface Audio+ tech for its high-end OLED TVs. Another objective of this technology is that the monitor can be tinier, as you don't have to include a speaker. Furthermore, the panel is predicted to have a refresh rate of 40 to 120Hz.
