ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 & SCAR 18 premium gaming laptops with Core i9 13th Gen Intel announced!


The premium ASUS ROG Strix SCAR series of laptops have been updated to the most cutting-edge hardware for both the 16-inch and 18-inch models.


The ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 have designs that are similar to previous models, including a customizable lightbar in the front, chiclet-style keyboards with per-key AURA SYNC RGB, and customizable armor caps.


ROG Strix SCAR 16 (G634) and SCAR 18 (G834) models have 16-inch & 18-inch Mini-LED panels with 16:10 aspect ratios. Both displays have a QHD+ resolution (22560×1600), a refresh rate of 240 Hz, and a response time of 3 ms with the Mini-LED displays cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and have a maximum brightness of 1,100 nits.

Finally, both panels are G-SYNC compatible, Dolby Vision compatible, and Pantone validated. Under the hood, the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 can be configured with a Core i9-13980HX and a GeForce RTX 4090 laptop version with Nvidia Advanced Optimus and up to 175 W TGP. ASUS has also used MUX switches on both laptops to ensure that you can fully utilize the GPU horsepower available. With powerful hardware like the Core i9-13980HX and an RTX 4090 mobile comes great heat. Fortunately, ASUS has equipped the ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 with a full-width heat sink as well as three fans to keep temperatures under control even during the continuous high-load gameplay.


Other notable hardware specifications include a maximum of 4 TB (2TB + 2TB) of Raid 0 PCIe 4.0 storage and up to 64 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz memory. The memory can also be replaced by the user.


Both the 2023 ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 have Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. You can use the built-in 2.5 Gbps ethernet port if you don’t want to rely on Wi-Fi.


As for port selection, the ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 have two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C. Both laptops feature DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. There is a single Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone jack, and one DC-in port. Last but not the least, both the ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 have 90Wh batteries capable of charging up to 100W.


As with most Asus laptops at CES 2023, Asus has not revealed the pricing or availability information regarding the two laptops yet
